The trilateral game of privacy perception, financial regulation and central bank digital currency issuance

The goal of this study is to clarify how privacy protection affects the insurance of central bank digital currency (CBDC). By constructing a tripartite game model involving consumers, commercial banks, and regulators, this paper explores the impact of privacy protection on the issuance of CBDC. The findings show that privacy protection is critical to ensuring successful adoption of CBDCs. The central bank must strike a balance between protecting user privacy while also regulating usage and ensuring convenience for users. However, due to opportunistic behavior by both commercial banks and consumers during this process, negative reactions are possible. Based on the findings of this research, it is suggested that central banks should encourage commercial banks to participate in CBDC issuance by promoting appropriate data sharing and offering guidance. Additionally, they should focus on consumer education and expectation management to promote CBDC adoption. Commercial banks must also embrace digital transformation and adapt to the changing financial landscape to remain competitive while providing innovative financial services to customers

A novel HVDC circuit breaker for HVDC application

Hybrid high voltage direct current circuit breakers (DCCBs) are capable of interrupting fault current within a few milliseconds, but this technology has high capital cost, especially in a meshed HVDC grid. To increase the economic competitiveness of hybrid DCCBs, this paper proposes a capacitor commutated dc circuit breaker (CCCB). The CCCB mainly comprises an auxiliary branch with a fast dis-connector in series with semiconductor devices and the main branch with the series connection of a dc capacitor and diode valves. This paper provides a detailed depiction of the CCCB. The topology and operating principles are discussed. The impact of snubber circuits and stray inductances on the commutation process is analyzed. The general sizing method for the main components in the CCCB is detailed. Reclosing to transmission lines with different operating conditions is studied. Several extended topologies are proposed to further reduce the semiconductor cost and on-state operation power loss. The power loss and cost of CCCB are assessed. Extensive simulations on PSCAD/EMTDC verified the dc fault isolation and reclosing of the CCCB

Characterizing the roles of long non-coding RNA in rat alcohol preference

Alcohol is one of the major threats to health in United States. With the emerging of next-generation sequencing technology, the association between alcohol preference and the variants and expression of genes has been investigated. However, the roles of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNA) in alcohol preference remains unclear. In this study, we identified 37 novel lncRNAs that differentially expressed across alcohol preferring (P) and non-preferring (NP) rats. The functional study on these lncRNAs demonstrates that they are associated with gene regulation, as well as neural functions. This suggests that these lncRNAs may contribute to the alcohol preference behaviors

As a new type of high-rise building structure system, diagridtube in tube structure is increasingly applied in high-rise building.Guangzhou West tower is the first high-rise diagrid tube intube structure in China. To study seismic performance of thestructure, elastic time-history analysis and shaking table testwere conducted. The results of elastic time-history analysis andshaking table test were in a good agreement, which verified thevalidity of the elastic time-history analysis. Dynamic characteristicsand responses of the model structure’s acceleration, displacement and strain under different intensity earthquakeaction were obtained through analysis and test. Dynamicresponses of prototype structure were deduced based on similaritylaw and shaking table test results. Research shows thatdiagrid tube structure has a small deformation under earthquakeactions; the main vibration mode is translation, whiletorsional effect is not obvious; whiplash effect has less influenceon the structure; diagrid members, diagrid nodes andshear walls at the bottom of the structure are weak parts
